Stephen Panebianco, MD pursued his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University where he majored in biology and minored in theology. After his medical studies at the University of Buffalo, Dr. Panebianco pursued residency training at the University of California Irvine and St. Joseph’s hospital in Syracuse, New York where he also pursued a Teaching Fellowship instructing resident physicians and medical students and taught at SUNY Upstate Medical Center and subsequently at Cornell University.

In 1995, Dr. Panebianco traveled throughout India to explore India’s rich culture and Ayurveda, India’s ancient healing system, and he has since returned to Asia including Tibet to further explore cross-cultural healing principles. In 2006, Dr. Panebianco completed his Residential Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona’s Program in Integrative Medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil. Dr. Panebianco became board certified in Family Medicine & Holistic Medicine, is a founding diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine, and has advanced training in Mind-Body Medicine including through the University of Arizona’s Mind-Body Medicine Clinic and the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, where he completed a teaching internship in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.

Dr. Panebianco’ s fascination with psychoneuroimmunology led to his 10-year position from 2009-2019 as Medical Director of the US Government’s Veterans Affairs Mind-Body Medicine Clinic that he originated. That very same clinic was awarded an Outstanding Wellness Care award for the city of Tucson through Inside Tucson Business and Tucson Local Media. Patients who completed the 10 week Mind-Body Skills Program through the VA’s Mind-Body Medicine Clinic also gave testimony of their positive experiences to a congressional commission and testimony has also been given to Washington with letters of appreciation of impact received from local congresswomen and an Arizona senator.

Dr. Panebianco specializes in Mind-Body Medicine, and applies various mind-body and body-mind approaches including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) through his training at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, and other mind-body skills through his training at the University of Arizona’s Mind-Body Medicine Clinic. Dr. Panebianco is the author of The Science and Practice of Mind-Body Medicine for the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine and he has offered consulting services in Mind-Body Medicine for governmental agencies, healthcare and educational institutions around the country, and medical expert services in the field of Mind-Body Medicine for the legal system.

Dr. Panebianco is currently the Chief Medical Officer for SpectraNomix which is applying its proprietary technology for diagnostics and therapeutics for the Covid-19 pandemic. He is also working with Kym Rupeiks, author of Shifting Winds (an inspiring and transparent account of her 38 year journey with an alcoholic, to be published in 2021) on a beginners and advanced workshop series to apply mind-body skills for neurologic receptivity and for the basis of cultivating behavioral change for the recovery movement.

In 2021, Dr. Panebianco will be releasing his book Mind-Body Immunity in the Age of Pandemic, as well as a Mind-Body Medicine curriculum for the general public in partnership with Grammy nominated healing music pioneer Steven Halpern.
