Humans have an amazing gift that often goes underutilized.  This gift has enormous power and can change how we respond in any moment – if we use it, that is. What is this gift?

Imagination.

The ability to imagine, or as I call it, arrive before you arrive, allows us to see into the future. Well, not the actual future, but a potential one for sure. When we use our imagination, we can create a possible future before the moment arrives. As Einstein said, the gives us the preview of coming attractions.

In this Aldea Explores Series, Know Thyself, we’re exploring what it means to know ourselves and grow as humans. In one sense, this happens when we’re willing to take responsibility ability for our lives.

The ability to imagine, or as I call it, arrive before you arrive, allows us to see into the future. Well, not the actual future, but a potential one for sure.

In one sense, taking responsibility for our lives means that we look at back and own our actions. But in another powerful sense, taking responsibility is about the future. It’s about creating a better future. When we take responsibility through our imagination, we anticipate a moment that’s ahead and imagine how we could make that better – more creative, more fun, more serious, more delightful, more courageous, more…more…more… It just all depends on what the moment requires. And how do we know that? We arrive before we (actually) arrive – imagining what is needed and readying ourselves to provide that.

Today, arrive before you arrive, and you’ll be taking responsibility for your life in a powerful way.

Week two of Know Thyself explores that journey into personal responsibility. This coming Sunday at 10 am PST. You can join the Aldea community to consider this important topic. After the Sunday gathering, you’ll be able to access a podcast and reflective guide to further explore living a responsible life.
